The device is configured and optimised for stunning conditions; the type of poultry, the number of animals stunned at one time, the speed of the production line etc. Recommended weight of the stunned poultry ranges from 0.5 to 10 kg, and the number of stunned animals depends on the size of the water bath. Stunning current set for one animal cannot, in total, exceed 3.3 A.

The STZ’s robust, solid housing, safe connections and high quality of electronic components ensures reliability even when being in intensive use.

The STZ 6 does not require special protection or user maintenance. Nevertheless, an annual service by a KOMA qualified technician is necessary for proper operation.


The STZ 6DW is a network device with a separation transformer with electronic measurement and control system and with PIG820 slaughter parameters controller and stunning parameters recorder.

The power supply unit is located in a sealed box. The box is adapted to be fixed at the place of use.

On the side wall of the STZ-6 there is a power socket with a special pin.

There is an on / off button located on the external door of the STZ-6:
– (start – green, stop – red);
STUNNING LAMP – red indicator light;
ALARM LAMP – yellow indicator light;
– Digital display of stunning voltage, stunning current and frequency (x10);
PIG820 stunning parameter control panel and stunning parameter recorder;
– Inspection window with SD card slot and fuse socket.

The device automatically measures the resistance and, based on the guidelines (included in the parameters set in the PIG820 slaughter parameters), selects the correct current values ​​(during slaughter) in order to carry out the correct stunning cycle.

Stunning poultry in the water bath using electric current is one of the most popular stunning methods mainly due to the low cost and simplicity of the entire process. Birds are hanging from a moving conveyor and their heads are submerged in water bath where STZ device electrodes supply electric current.

Programmed amperage and automatically adjusted voltage according to birds and water resistance, cause loss of consciousness and pain sensitivity.

Parameters of stunning animals in water bath are in accordance with Council Regulation (EC) No 1099/2009 of 24 September 2009 on the protection of animals at the time of killing.

Stunning parameter recorder


The recording device fulfills the requirements of the Council Regulation No. 1099/2009 of 24 September 2009. (Annex II, point 4.1) on the protection of animals at the time of killing.

The recorder device is factory-installed in the STZ 6 DW stunning device. During stunning process, the recorder performs the measurement of electrical parameters related to the slaughter and saves these parameters ​​on the SDHC memory card located in the recorder socket.
